I must admit, as much as i respect Hyundai i dont get their choice of ‘N’ high performance branding.
It feels like they’re trying to get some positive vibes from BMW’s ‘M’. That’s all well and good but it just ends up feeling cheap.
Words that M brings to mind: Mmmm. MORE! MOTOR. Monster. MASSIVE.
N words: NO! Nothing.Nada.Nyet.Niente.Nonsense.
I say they should have started with a different letter or probably better - a name.

N stands for their Namyang proving grounds.

BMW’s old ///M director is now working from them, so they probably are getting lots of ///M feelings.

Thanks for sharing this :D I had no idea. I knew M was probably Motorsports, so N had me stumped.

Or one third the M for one third the price?

My dad works for Hyundai and I asked him about it the other day and his explanation was that it either has something to do with the Nurburgring or some town in Korea that starts with N. Also the former BMW M boss heads up the N brand so there’s also that.

But what about Namazing or Nawesome? Or maybe Nsuperfastcars?

It’s a big middle finger to BMW after poaching Albert Bierman.
I like how
N
rustles every Bimmerfan’s jimmies. :)

That....that was a “proving grounds” joke....that was poorly executed...

What’s not to understand? Hyundai made a name for themselves blatantly copying other brands. A blatant rip off of M is no surprise.
